Signed Meteor for Intermediate and Smash just JFF obedience . As it was last mins signing up , no training was conducted especially for both .
Did trained Smash on JFF exercise on Nov or Dec 3 days before the trial, since then we had been r&r till 2 days before the trial. We have our last min crash course, yes i know Im a lazy handler.
As for Meteor , he retired obedience since 2005 whereby he completed his Novice trial. Till last yr June 2013, decided to trial in Intermediate, thus we had a 1 week crash course ie warming up his heelwork , stay exercise plus training new exercise such as Drop on recall, fetch and board jump. After our trial , we again stopped our training till 2 days before our trial.
Great that tis old man still remember the exercise . On the day of trial (9.3.2013), i very happy with tis lil old man, he gave me a good heelwork and everything goes smoothly except stand stay , whereby he moved.
Although we have to say bye bye to our 2nd placing based on the score, but i am very happy with him. Here the score sheet and his nos 703 .
After the intermediate, i started to warm up Smash and he was very distracted. As it is just a JFF , not much stress from me. Im happy that while in the obedience ring, he did performed great.
As i had forgotten to record Meteor Intermediate obedience, so i signed me for JFF . As Meteor is overqualified for that level, we can still proceed for the trial except no placing for them.
Not very active in obedience when CoCo officially retired 2 yrs ago and Meteor half way to retire due to old age .
Now left only the young shelties generation, however they will ONLY be focusing on their show conformation and agility, so left only Smash that i have intend to train him in obedience and agility trials.
Since young, i only train Smash on sit , down and focusing however stopped when he reached 9 mths inorder for us to focus on agility before obedience.
Till end Nov, i saw JFF obedience trial which is also the last obedience trial for Yr 2012. Just for fun, i decided to sign Smash for the trial.
After signing out for JFF, i totally forgotten about it as my 3 girls were on heat and boys were going crazy.
Until Thursday i received the email from SKC on the JFF and i realised that the trial was on 1 Dec 2012.
So a last min training for Smash to learn what is sit stay (30 sec), stand stay (30 sec) , down stay (45 mins) , an obedience style of recall exercise and obedience style of heeling.
Day 1 of 10 mins of obedience
As Smash already know what is sit and down, so we only focus on what is stay
Teaching him to stand
Recall to Front
Day 2 of 10 mins of obedience
Sit stay , Down Stay
Stand + stay
Recall to front + finish
Heeling with focus
From tis 2 sessions, noticed that Smash seem to be easy tired especially just a 10 mins of obedience. Few hours of agility or swimming does not drain his energy except Obedience.
Day 3 is the JFF , inorder not to have too much stress for both of us, he had some morning running at the field and thereafter i had my morning shopping and to rest my mind by ……………
JFF @ Tampines West Community Club
We will late for reporting as we reached about 2.15 pm but great that they yet to start. Collected Smash 1st obedience number 616.
At last our turn, total 5 station . 1st station : heeling , 2nd station : sit stay, 3rd station : down stay, 4th station : recall and last station : Stand Stay .
Great that Smash managed to finished all the exercises .. how good is he , lol i oso do not know as my focus is to give the best presentation to the judge by using my obedience handling skill and Smash best skill to gain more point in the heeling 😀
While waiting for result , both look bored …or maybe just me
So we decided to have some fun …at one corner
Anyway during the JFF, i noticed there was quite a number of dogs performance great and i met a long time no see friend, chit chat with her while waiting for the result. Shortly they started to award those with passing score. Smash number was not called under the passing score list and thought that Smash should have no placing when they started to award the 4th placing.
So didn’t focus much on who the winner thereafter until number 616 was called. So happy that Smash managed to score 49/50 for his obedience and awarded the 2nd placing. Unexpected performance and result for his lil trg.
Thanks Smash for being able to remember what i taught for the past 2 sessions and won a 2nd placing although it is just JFF obedience . Great job my boy 😀
Like i had mentioned before , obedience is stressful .. see after just a short trial, Smash inside the car .
Had not been very active in Obedience since i semi retired my CoCo in 2006 …. Until 16 Jun 2012, decided to try but obviously not CoCo but her son, Meteor. Meteor had stopped obedience since 2006 after he achieved Champion in Novice level and concentrated on agility and jumper.
Had our last minute practice and learning new exercise such as drop on recall and stay out of sight. The trial was held at one of the HDB pavilion at Hougang Area. The judge is one Mr David Rumble from Australia. The weather was very hot on that day. So no warming up for Meteor but just staying in the aircon car with the driver until his turn.
Meteor was the first dog for intermediate. I’m happy with tis boy, as he does all the exercises althought he had given me some heart attack on drop on recall and board jump exercises. He does perfectly on his fetch cos he is a boy that does not like to fetch or holding anything in his mouth. He is a boy that does not like to be touch by anyone and does not like to stay near any dogs that is biggest than him. I am great that he stay well during the stand, sit and down exercises. Good job my boy for being co-operative and not giving me attitude. With that, he managed to get 1st in Intermediate with a not very good score of 175 points.
Here my kisser :
17 June 2012 , was our agility / Jumper trial and location is at West Coast Dog Run. This round i only trial Meteor and Prince, no girls as it is a distraction to Meteor.
